- Hydraulics are typically pistons powered with high pressure fluid. Hydraulics are very powerful but costly to maintain, difficult to control, and arent super reactive as compared with electric motors.
- Pneumatics are similar to hydraulics in that they are powered by pressure, but instead of fluid it uses air. they are smaller and less powerful than hydraulics, but can also do more than be a piston. Also relevent for soft robots- as this is a fan favorite mode of actuation
